Tea Tree At Point Lonsdale by Anne Pinkas

ARTIST NOTES: Tea Tree at Point Lonsdale was inspired by a tree along the foreshore of the town of Point Lonsdale. It intrigued me with its contorted shape.
I decided to do my design first as an etching using a zinc plate and nitric acid: the etched lines followed by the shaded areas using aquatint.
Then I screened-printed oil-based colour around the etched tree in four stages - from light to dark. Finally, I used pale yellow watercolour for the detailed areas around the 'foam'.
