ARTIST BIO

I am a largely Self-taught artist although I have attended many workshops with a wide range of tutors over the years. However I feel the best way to improve one's art is to Just Do It !

My favourite mediums are Pastel and Oil but have recently re-discovered my love of sketching especially in pen ( sometimes with a watercolour wash). My 'style' is best described as Modern Impressionism and I have been strongly influenced by the French Impressionist era, The Australian Heidelberg School and most of all by the wonderful Van Gogh. When conditions suitable I particularly enjoy Plein-Air painting.

I am a member of the Ballarat Society of Artists ( over 20 yrs), Australian Guild of Realist Artists ( about 15yrs) and PSVA. With BSA Inc I have taken on various roles including President, Newsletter Editor, Saturday Painting co-ordinator and general Committee positions.

Awards: many awards in Art shows in the Grampian's region including a First at Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral show and my paintings are in private collections, in Victoria, interstate and overseas.

Exhibitions: 2013, Joint Exhibition with Kristina Foyster at Guild House ( AGRA Headquarters), " Chalk & Cheese"
